Human Support Services

Bobbi Walters

In her own words

“I describe myself as an advocate.  I am very passionate about equal rights and responsibilities for the people we serve and strive to help each client live a full and satisfying life.”

Bobbi Candler

Site Manager (CILA Housing)

It only took one year of working in the corporate world for Bobbi to realize it was not a fulfilling career for her. She was looking for her passion in life and found it as an advocate for the clients of HSS.

In 1994, Bobbi came to HSS as a direct support staff member in the residential department, helping teach daily living skills to our clients. After completing job placement courses at Meramec College, Bobbi began her role as supported employment specialist.

In this role, her responsibilities ranged from matching clients’ skills with the needs of local businesses, to collaborating with the local public aid office to secure job placement for the unemployed and assisting students with the transition from school to the workforce. Bobbi had found her calling.

In 2001, Bobbi was promoted to residential site manager of one of our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) apartment buildings. She became manager of a second CILA building soon after.

Bobbi also provides services to several people in our Home Based and Intermittent programs. In June 2015, she assisted in opening another CILA home in Waterloo.
